After five long years, Ubisoft is finally implementing Pause Timer for custom games. It is one of the most requested features by competitive and semi-competitive players. When players encounter issues like bugs or game crashes, the hosting server needs to start again and manually add settings. Now, players just have to pause the game during interruptions. This saves them a lot of time.
The new feature has a default timeout setting of 10 minutes. But players can change it shorter or longer. This is very helpful in Tournaments and Scrims.
Tournaments
The feature is very useful in online matches. Before, only LAN matches have the feature, implemented a while back. Now, online matches can opt for game pauses. Teams can now take tactical timeouts or maybe waste time to break the enemy’s momentum. Though, the timer duration in the competitive scenes is not yet known. Details will release once the feature is available in the live game version.
Scrims (Practice)
Players who scrim a lot know the pain of waiting for opponents to either reconnect/rehost or even take a break mid-scrim. But with the new feature, they can finally pause the game for a certain amount of time. Then, hop back to practice after the break. This makes scrims friendlier in training players for their next matches.
The new patch also includes some general issues. The update will fix the drones passing through objects and visual problems with the battle pass.

So, what do you think about Ubisoft's decision to add Pause Timer to online matches? Personally, I think it’s one of the best additions for players who competitively play Rainbow Six Siege as it gives more freedom. However, it also means you can’t force a rehost lobby for longer than required periods. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
