Ubisoft has been teasing its latest DLC for Rainbow Six Siege this past week, unveiling its new 'Coastline' multiplayer map and Jackal, one of its two operators. However, we would have thought the team would unveil its second operator as well before announcing the release date of the anticipated Rainbow Six Siege Operation Velvet Shell DLC.
Operation Velvet Shell is slated to arrive Tuesday, Feb. 7, to PS4, Xbox One and PC. Based in Spain, Operation Velvet Shell is the first of four scheduled Year 2 DLCs coming to Rainbow Six Siege in 2017. Operation Velvet Shell will be followed by a Hong Kong DLC May, Poland in August and South Korea in November. In total, Year 2 will introduce a total of four new free maps and eight new operators.
As we have mentioned in our previous articles, Coastline is a resort map located on the rocky shore of Ibiza, Spain. Velvet Shell's first operator is known as the Jackal, a G.E.O. agent with a special ability that allows him to track the footprints of his enemies. Jackal's primary weapons are a choice of the C7E and PEDW9 rifles. Secondary weapons include the ITA 12 S and USP 40.
"We created Jackal with that in mind, so that he would fully embody a specific playstyle," said Siege writer Farah Brixi. "When you pick Jackal you are sending a clear message to the opposing team: now they’ve got a target on their back.”
