Rainbow Six Siege's APAC North Mini Major just concluded its semifinals and the results are here. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the matches have been held online. APAC North Mini Major had some really amazing matches to watch this week, with all the matches played as a best of three format. The most surprising thing that happened this week is that we got to see Cloud9 dominating Cyclops gaming on two maps, which was really impressive.
The best matchup for the semifinals was between Xavier Esports and Giants Gaming. The first map was played on Clubhouse, which is a strategy-heavy map. The score went 8-7 in the favor of Xavier, with Sumate "New..Pew" Srimabut carrying his team with 12 kills playing operators such as Smoke and Capitao. Xavier managed to outfrag Giants on Clubhouse, making some insane plays such as jumping out of random windows. The second map, Oregon, was very close for both teams. However, the Giants were able to take the second map with an 8-7 score, which started to make the match more interesting. The decider map was played on Kafe Dostoyevsky, with the Giants winning out the match with a 7-5 scoreline.
The final match between Cyclops and Cloud9 was also a very dominating match from the side of Cloud9. The first map was played on Oregon, which went 7-3 in favor of Cloud9. While Cloud9 didn’t show anything new for this map, it proved Cyclops didn’t do their research on Cloud9 before playing the match. The second map also went 7-3 on Consulate, and it was played well by Cloud9. Cyclops was unable to make plays, and at one point the team jumped out of windows, which resulted in Cloud9 killing three players, like they did in the quarterfinals. Cloud9 was able to contain them with ease, proving they are the better contenders.
Both Cloud9 and Giants Gaming will meet in the finals for a spot in the Six Major. For more coverage on the APAC North Mini Major, you can watch all the streams on Twitch or YouTube.
