Rumors are going around that the next single-player DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to revolve around aliens. Originating from a reddit post allegedly from an artist working at Rockstar Games, the information pointed to an alien-themed single-player DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2 that is similar to the Undead Nightmare adventure in the first game.
Although exciting and highly-anticipated, many players were less than surprised at the news of an upcoming alien-themed DLC. Even in the base Red Dead Redemption 2 game, players can come across all manner of alien easter eggs - from mysterious glyphs, ancient texts, and downright flying saucers like the one in the gameplay clip below from VG247:
WIth easter eggs like that, it seems only logical that Rockstar build further on that narrative by introducing an alien-themed Undead Nightmare-style DLC, thus paving the way to one of the craziest yet most entertaining tropes of all time: cowboys versus aliens.
When Undead Nightmare, a standalone adventure DLC for Red Dead Redemption, came out back in 2010, it was widely-regarded as an exemplary content pack that did everything right. It had protagonist John Marston fighting zombies in a story that entirely separate from the main game, yet felt true to the character and the game. If this upcoming alien-themed single-player DLC is going to be similar to the original game’s Undead Nightmare, then it has some big shoes to fill - but folks in the gaming community are definitely looking forward to seeing the attempt come to fruition.
Apart from the leaked information regarding the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 single-player DLC, the bulk of the post had to do with the possibility of a Red Dead Redemption remake. When it launched ten years ago, Red Dead Redemption was a masterpiece of a video game title. Even though Red Dead Redemption 2 is technically far superior, there were some aspects that Red Dead Redemption simply did better. With talks of a remake, however, players might just be able to experience everything that was great in the first game, with all of the bells and whistles that were afforded to players in the second game.
