As part of its presentation stage during Tokyo Game Show 2022, Capcom unveiled a brand-new trailer for Resident Evil Village DLC Winters’ Expansion, showing off new footage for the three main features. The most notable in the footage is protagonist Ethan Winters’ animations and gameplay seen from a third-person perspective, which is probably a big selling point of the upcoming DLC. The expansion is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC via Steam, and Stadia on October 28. Check out the new trailer for Resident Evil Village DLC Winters’ Expansion below.
One of the most awaited features coming to the Resident Evil Village: Winters’ Expansion is the third-person mode, allowing players to explore the entire game in a whole new light. Resident Evil Village launched as a first-person survival horror game, the same as its predecessor Resident Evil VII. However, some Resident Evil fans vastly prefer the third-person perspective implemented in the recent Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes.
The new trailer shows Ethan Winters’ animations and movement from a third-person perspective, a great addition to what is already an iconic title. Players looking to dip back into the game can now do so via a different perspective, and it appears that Capcom has really gone in-depth to make the new mode as natural as possible; for a game that was developed purely in first-person, this is a massive achievement.
Besides footage of the third-person mode for the main storyline, additional gameplay footage for the Shadows of Rose side story was also revealed. Shadows of Rose features Ethan and Mia’s daughter, Rose, as she ventures into a mysterious mansion and reconciles with the aspects surrounding her supernatural life. There’s also additional footage for the upcoming The Mercenaries Additional Orders mode, revealing gameplay from the first-person perspective of various player characters, such as Chris Redfield and Lady Dimitrescu.
Resident Evil Village is also set to launch on Nintendo Switch sometime this 2022, although this will be a cloud-based version only. Capcom has yet to announce a proper release date for this version.
