In an interview with “Agents of Geek” from New York Comic Con (NYCC) a talkative Justin Roiland and a reticent Dan Harmon revealed some new details about “Rick and Morty” Season 2… maybe. Responding to a boilerplate question about the next season of “Rick and Morty” (“What can we expect from this new season?”) Dan Harmon promised this: “An interesting new theory about 9/11 that I’ve been sitting on.” From there the “Rick and Morty” co-creators went on an extensive conspiracy rant, with Justin Roiland, voice of both Rick and Morty, name-dropping our secrets rulers, the reptiles “who’ve infiltrated us a couple years ago, y’know, like 50 years ago.” So what part of this "Rick and Morty" interview should we be taking seriously?

What do you think? Does this speak to anything real, or are Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon pulling John Galbo’s leg for being a crummy interviewer?

While Justin Roiland’s quickly expanding rant concerning humanity’s chattel destiny is a clear flight of fancy, I take Dan Harmon’s claim that 9/11 conspiracies will pop up in a Season 2 episode of “Rick and Morty” at face value.

For one, we know conspiracy theories have been on the man’s mind for some time. Just check out this 2013 episode of his podcast, Harmontown:

New York Comic Con offered up two unexpected scoops about the upcoming Season 2 of “Rick and Morty,” with character voice actor Sarah Chalke describing an episode involving intergalactic marriage counseling during the Adult Swim panel. Little else is known about the next season of “Rick and Morty” but it’s currently expected to air on Adult Swim in the summer of 2015.
