It’s time for another E3 rumor, this time relating to a franchise that has laid dormant for a while.
If you recall, a few weeks ago I reported on a massive Xbox leak out on NeoGAF. The entire post contains what is essentially Microsoft’s plans going into E3, with a big focus on games and Xbox’s future going into the next generation. We’re now a few days away from Microsoft’s big E3 2019 briefing, and with it the confirmation or debunking of a massive list of rumors that preceded it.
Of course, a number of these rumors have been in circulation for a while now, which may lead credence as to the possibility of them being actually true. One of these relates to Fable, and more specifically, a new Fable title. This would be the first in the franchise without any creative input from creator Peter Molyneux.
Somehow, a lot of people have latched onto these rumors, which could potentially mean that we will get to see Fable’s announcement on Microsoft’s E3 stage. Just yesterday, some more potential new information from the possible upcoming title has surfaced, this time accompanied by a short clip (which has since been deleted).
The rumor spawned this time on Reddit, where a user posted a now-deleted clip of the upcoming Fable game along with some gameplay details. Luckily, one of the other reddit users managed to get a screenshot of the information that the leak provided, which could give us some insight as to how exactly the new Fable will play like.
- Can be played in first or third person
- Features an in-depth character creator
- Completely open-world
- No guns will be featured
- You can ignore the main quest and never become a hero
- You can build towns, and this mechanic is tied heavily into the main quest, especially if you get the bad ending and fail
- Features multiplayer
- Made with the Unreal Engine
We will also get to see a new setting, as the lands of Albion and Aurora are gone, with their lands “reduced to fables.” The Spire has been rebuilt by a mad king, and then used to make a wish for the planet’s destruction with an asteroid striking it. Not content, the king also wished it would happen again in the far future. The game’s theme will be centered on the medieval and features new continents. As the newest Hero, you have to stop the destruction of the planet once again.
The rumor also states that Theresa will be making a return along with the Hero Guild, who managed to be preserved on another planet via a demon door. Time travel elements will also most likely come into play, and the game will feature the return of Fable’s main antagonist, Jack of Blades.
As is the case for most rumors and leaks, take everything you’ve just read with a grain of salt. Either way, you won’t have to wait long for a confirmation, seeing as E3 is happening next week and Microsoft’s presentation will make or break most of these rumors.
