A recent rumor suggests Samsung may release a higher-end version of the Galaxy Note 7, which will include 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. While the rumor has not been confirmed, new reports back up the claim. The Galaxy Note 7 model may go on sale in China Sept. 2, selling for 6,088 yuan or $912, according to Weibo user ITBigBrother .
The Aug. 2 announcement of the Galaxy Note 7 refuted many long-time rumors, which suggested the globally available model would feature 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The Galaxy Note 7 that will sell in most markets will feature 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Users will be able to expand microSD memory by up to 256GB. The device will sell for $849 when it releases Aug. 19, but prices may vary by carrier and retailer. The Chinese 4GB/64GB model is expected to sell for 5,688 yuan or $854.
It is possible the higher-end Galaxy Note 7 model may be compatible with Google’s Daydream VR platform . So far neither Google nor Samsung have confirmed whether the flagship is “Daydream Ready,” but many other smartphones that have models certified under the protocol include specifications such as 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Samsung has also updated its Gear VR headset to accompany the new Galaxy Note 7.
Reports suggest the higher-end Galaxy Note 7 model will be available for pre-order in China Aug. 26. Since it’s an international model, it may be available in gold, in addition to silver, black and blue.
