Several images have surfaced in recent weeks, which some claim are teasers for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note smartphone. While none of the images can be confirmed at this time and many pundits question their validity, yet another supposed teaser has been discovered by Phone Arena . The publication suggests this teaser reveals a curved edge display for the next Galaxy Note.
The image features a handset and stylus with the caption “Write on the edge of something great.” While the caption does sound like quintessential Samsung branding, the image itself does not have Samsung’s typical quality. Similar to the other two supposed teasers that have leaked, this image looks as if it were put together in a basic photo editing program.
Teasers began surfacing when reports suggested Samsung would call its next flagship the Galaxy Note 7 instead of the Galaxy Note 6. The prior two leaks featured Note 7 branding, with the captions “Note the Next Galaxy” and “The Next Note.” Neither of these images have the quality usually seen from official Samsung teasers. Pundits have suggested they could be prototypes, while others wonder if they are simply mockups made by fans to fuel rumors.
Rumors have also suggested Samsung may include a curved edge display on the Galaxy Note 7 for some time, instead of releasing a flagship Galaxy Note and a curved Galaxy Edge. While the image featured in the recent teaser appears to have a curved detail in its design, it seems as if that curve is toward the back of the device instead of the front. Samsung has been using the back panel curve as an aesthetic feature for some time.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 features such a curved back panel as a design feature, while its front panel is flat, as does the Galaxy S7. The Galaxy S7 Edge features curves in both its front and back panels, giving the device a special look. Samsung has often stated the curved back panel allows for easier handling of the device.
Though the teaser image is dark. The visible curve is clearly on the back while the front panel is white.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is rumored to feature a 5.8-inch Quad HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 chip, 6GB of RAM and a 12-megapixel camera with f/1.7 aperture. The device may be announced and released in mid-to-late August.
