Recently, fans have been bombarding Ubisoft with requests to bring back the beat-em-up Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game, which originally released 10 years ago. The consistent pressure from fans has resulted in the return of the fan-favorite title, which was abruptly delisted a few years after its initial release. Fortunately, the game is now returning on its 10th anniversary.
Although Ubisoft's second digital presentation wasn't full of nonstop eye-candy, it certainly was exciting for Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World fans. Among the many announcements made during the Ubisoft Forward event, Ubisoft also included a surprise return of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game to PC and current consoles. Not only is the game finally returning, but it's also going to be the complete edition, which includes previously released Knives Chau and Wallace Wells add-on packs. The game will be available during Holiday 2020, though no specific dates have been confirmed.
Expectedly, the return of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game was met with huge excitement and even the series' creator, Bryan Lee O'Malley, took to Twitter to share his excitement with fans. He also thanked the fans for continuing to demand the game after it was delisted.
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game is an old-school side-scrolling beat-em-up game. That's a lot of dashes! Players take on the role of one of four characters (six characters with the included DLC) from the Scott Pilgrim comic books, and make their way through a series of levels to defeat all of Ramona's evil Exes. While the game was released to help build excitement for the Scott Pilgrim movie, the game's plot more closely follows the series of graphic novels both the game and movie are based off of.
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game may look like a beat-em-up from the SNES era, but there are some modern twists to the formula to keep today's gamer invested. Players can earn money from beating up bad guys, and can spend this money improving their character's skills and to unlock special attacks. All of this action is set to a fantastic chiptunes soundtrack from the band Anamanaguchi.
Previously, several rumors surfaced on the internet citing the ultimate return of the game. Even the official Ubisoft Twitter account responded to Bryan Lee O'Malley's plea with an emoji, expressing that the company was thinking about it. The Ubisoft tweet that came out nowhere sent fans of the game into a frenzy, and it's when the fanbase started to look for more rumors and leaks, and to scrape any information that they could find about the game.
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition is releasing this Holiday season for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia.
