Shadow Arena has officially arrived on Steam’s Early Access. This follows multiple Beta tests conducted globally which started during the last week of February. Through early access, developer Pearl Abyss hopes to improve the gameplay experience even further, especially based on user feedback.
For those not familiar with Shadow Arena, it’s based on the Black Desert universe. In Shadow Arena, players fight against each other on a battlefield using weapons and magic. However, it’s not purely fighting against other players as there are also monsters to kill that hand out valuable items. These items help players get the advantage that they need against opponents.
In a statement, Lead Producer Kwang Sam Kim said that this standalone game allows "fans to experience the Black Desert universe like never before.” Kim went on to say that under early access, they plan to continue listening “closely to player feedback and perfect the game for our official launch.”
Along with the early access, the Complete 10 Heroes Package is available and offered at a 20% discount for $71.99. This special offer is only around until June 26. Those who buy the package get to unlock all 10 heroes that are currently available without any limitations. The heroes available are:
- Ahon Kirus
- Badal
- Goyen
- Haru
- Herawen
- Jordine Ducas
- Orwen
- Shultz
- Venslar
- Yeonhwa
It’s not just access to new heroes, though. Even without buying the Heroes Package, the Early Access offers new features along with new content. For example, AI matches now have additional multiple difficulty levels. Hopefully this will allow for an environment that suits the skills of each player. Pearl Abyss also made changes to in-game areas, allowing for different characteristics when it comes to monster types and monster levels.
Going back to heroes, each one now come with Ultimate Skills. These are skills that are considered as more powerful compared to the others.
What else can player expect in early access? One new feature is that hero skins can now be purchased, which means players can now change how their heroes look. There are also in-game emotes which should make for interesting chats. Additional features includecChallenges, Ancient Weapon Puturum, and Suspicious Cauldron. Of course, there’s also the usual daily challenges. All of these are there to help in leveling up the heroes.
