Shin Hayarigami 1 and 2 is coming to Switch in Japan as a pack on July 18, Nippon Ichi confirmed in this week’s Famitsu magazine.
This is indeed some good news for anyone who loved Shin Hayarigami 1 and 2 that was released a few years back for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, the latter also being available on PlayStation 4. A novel came out on the same year as Shin Hayarigami 1, Shin Hayarigami – File Zero: Tokoyami no Maria, written by Hifumi. However, both the games and the novel are only available within Asia. If you want a copy of your own in the west, you’ll have to get it from an auction or probably somewhere online.
The game’s story takes place in an prefecture known as Prefecture S and a village known as Village C. The player plays the role of the protagonist, Saki Hojo, a newbie police officer who graduated from a local police academy. The story revolves around a serial killer from an urban myth called Blind Man. He is known to take pleasure in taking out the eyes and tongue of his victims.
The National Police Agency decides to bring Sojiro Sekimoto, the university professor who was arrested in 2012 for his involvement in the death of a university student during his watch. Sekimoto is placed under the custody of the S Prefecture Police. Sojiro and Saki join hands to solve the Blind Man’s case. The duo try to discover if the perpetrator is just someone obsessed with urban myth or if the urban myth itself is coming to life.
Expect gore and blood in a higher level for the Shin Hayarigami, unlike most Hayarigami games. You can raise your expectations in this aspect. It makes sense why CERO gave the game a Z rating.
Shin Hayarigami 1 and 2 for the Nintendo Switch will be sold in Japan on July 18 for ¥4,980 or $44.63. Let’s wait for the horror adventure game’s arrival to haunt our dreams and make us think hard about our choices that will lead to different outcomes in its multiple ending nature.
