Call of Duty is one of the best-known video game franchises, and each installment is always hotly anticipated by fans.

The most recent release, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, is the latest entry in the Black Ops sub-series. Despite the anticipation and excitement from fans, it seems that many are not too happy with the game.

Here's what gamers have to say about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

'Call of Duty: Black Ops 6'

Released on October 25, 2024, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is the 21st installment of the Call of Duty series. It is also the seventh entry in the Black Ops sub-series. Treyarch and Raven Software are the co-developers of the game, which is published by Activision.

Its single-player story follows two characters, Troy Marshall and Frank Woods, who have to put together a team to hunt down a paramilitary group planning a false flag attack on the United States.

As with many of the other Call of Duty games, Black Ops 6 has a multiplayer mode, as well as a Zombies mode.

'Mixed' Reviews on Steam

As of press time, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has more than 5,000 user reviews on Steam. Steam has categorized these reviews as "Mixed."

"Campaign is pretty good and zombies is like Cold War with Classic features mixed in," user SCUM said in a Steam review. "Pretty fun but the base maps get a bit repetitive for long sessions."

"The developers have lost touch with what made Call of Duty special and ruined the core game play formula and feel," user .ɴedloн said in a separate review.

"The new gameplay meta/mechanics of modern CoD titles is absolute trash and not fun,"
.ɴedloн added. "I don't understand how a 'Cracked out Adderall infused spazzfest of rapid, quick movements, diving, sliding, jumping and instant aim lock' is the new accepted norm for CoD game play."

2.7 Stars on Google Reviews

Unfortunately, the game is not doing any better on Google Reviews, where it has a rating of 2.7 stars, as of press time.

"As someone who's been playing since World at War, this is easily one of the best CoD games since Black Ops 3," Google user Nick Ross said in a review. "The omnimovement is a breath of fresh air and should have been integrated into CoD sooner."

"The multiplayer, although with some lackluster maps, feels right at home with the earlier Treyarch offerings," the review added. "Zombies is back and better than ever, with improvements on both the returning gobble gumsystem and the Cold War mechanics."

"I've played every Black Ops game since the original, and I can confidently say that Black Ops 6 is an absolute travesty," said Łukasz Wójt in a separate review. "It feels like they threw everything that made the previous games great into the trash and served us this mess instead."
