City Living will be the most comprehensive Sims 4 expansion pack released so far. San Myshuno introduces four new neighborhoods with unique festivals, new activities and stunning views. Less traditional careers allow you to have more control of your Sims. Send them on assignment, work from home or head out to the office. While we still don’t know every feature that’s coming with City Living, here’s what we’re most excited for so far.
Basketball
There’s also video games and karaoke, but I’m personally most excited for Basketball. It’s a perfect activity for all ages and skillsets and you’ll have a chance to see your Sims do some pretty awesome things on the court. The more they practice, the more flaming dunks and around the back layups you’ll see. Play a pickup game at the neighborhood court, or play while watching the sunset in your penthouse’s indoor court.
Geek Con
At the nerdiest convention in San Myshuno, the cities most serious cosplayers are at their best. Not into costumes?Compete in a hackathon and “the ultimate gamer test.” The ‘among geniuses’ buff allows your Sims to increase in gaming skills much faster when surrounded by fellow nerds. Don't forget the souvenirs.
Spice Market
This neighborhood is home to a lot of exciting new features, including the the Spice Festival. Enter your Sim in the Curry challenge and see if they can take the heat. Home to street foods from all across the globe, your foodie Sims will have a host of new dishes (like summer rolls and empanadas) to try and cook at home once they give each a taste. Even if you give your Sim the new vegetarian trait, they won’t be short of options.
Romance Guru
The Romance Festival brings a new NPC for your Sims to interact with: The Romance Guru. Having relationship troubles? Pay the Guru a visit for some good advice and a “glimpse into the future.” Unflirty Sims should stay at home for this festival, because you just may meet the love of your life.
Bubble Blower
What’s the perfect activity for a group of really good friends (or not so good ones) on a Friday night? Break out the bubbler! Even Sims who hate each other will chill out with this new object.
Lot Traits
20+ new lot traits will make living in a city apartment feel more real. The cheaper your rent, the more ‘grody’ and ‘filthy’ your apartment becomes. Each of the areas has positives and negatives. Uptown has ‘sunny aspects’ and ‘bracing breezes’ and ‘great acoustics,’ while a converted flat may feel more ‘homey,’ have ‘faster internet’ and more ‘natural light.’
Critic Career
Your Sim will be sent out to review food or art at festivals throughout the city. Taste the cuisine as the latest San Myshuno restaurant or pick apart the newest painting collection at the museum. Taking the food critic role in a restaurant you made in Dine Out will be super cool. Hopefully one day, you’ll be able to play chef too!
Flea Market
Strapped for cash because rent is so high in Myshuno? No worries, buy all your furniture at the Flea Market (Let’s just hope there’s no bed bugs in City Living). Buy and sell objects such as paintings statues and other decorations. If your looking to complete a collection this is the place to find what you need at a lower price.
Political Career
Your Sim starts out as an activist and works their way up to becoming a charity organizer or a politician. For both career tracks, you’ll have to choose a specific cause. Career assignments include protests and giving speeches to fuel your campaign and gain public trust and votes. Charity organizers will need to ask for donations (or bribes). The trailer for the political career reveals the public may even call you out for lying, so make sure to keep a spotless reputation.
Social Media Career
You’ll probably want to meet as many people as you can to be successful in the Social Media Career. Gain a massive following by interacting with Sims across the city on your computer. The trailer for festivals reveals one social media assignment is livestreaming from various festivals across the city, including Geek Con.
Clothing
The latest Sims 4 expansion offers basketball jerseys, sleeve tattoos, high-waisted pants, bandanas, hipster stuff, new hats, flowy shirts for men and a lot of new clothing specific to cultures around the world. Take a look at some screenshots from the trailers below.
Converted Warehouse
Penthouses are awesome, especially since they can be more than a residential lot, but the neighborhood trailer also revealed if your Sim has a large budget they can buy warehouse and convert it into something new. A lot of players are complaining they can’t build apartments from scratch, but this allows you to set up your home however you like. Unlike apartment buildings, you have the whole empty space to work with. Only the outside walls are off-limits.
Uptown
All of the other neighborhoods have more useful features, but Uptown is pure beauty. It’s essentially a high-rise city. The San Myshuno elite gather here. It’s a hot spot for sims joining the new political career. There’s even some modern-looking auditorium chairs. There’s fancy street food like a cup cake truck, and a new gym lot called ‘Sky Gym.’ Compete in a slam dunk contest and swim on a huge rooftop pool at the ‘Stargazer Lounge.’
