The release date for Splatoon 2, one of the most-anticipated Nintendo Switch games, has been revealed during the April 12 Nintendo Direct.
Fans will be able to gather their friends and enter the Splatoon 2 battlefield starting July 21.
Check out the entire Splatoon 2 Nintendo Direct video below.
A new mode called Salmon Run was also announced. This new game mode puts players in a brand new stage away from Inkopolis where a team of four will have to fight off monsters called Chums that attack in waves. They release Power Eggs when they are defeated. The Steelhead acts as a boss that can really turn the tides of battle.
When a fallen Inkling falls, they can be saved by a teammate. Keep fighting the waves off until you gather enough eggs to take back home.
There are also Golden Eggs that are rarer than Power Eggs. You'll have to gather those and haul them back to Inkopolis via the net in the center of the stage.
There are rewards for collecting these eggs, but the Nintendo Direct stream didn't reveal what it was.
New Splatoon amiibo will also be released. An Inkling girl, boy and squid will be available. You can use the amiibo in-game to remember your outfit of your choosing. This is perfect for playing Splatoon 2 at a friend's house and you want to rock your special gear.
You can also gain special gear by posting to social media. Series 1 Splatoon amiibo will also work with Splatoon 2.
Splatoon 2 and the new amiibo will release for the Nintendo Switch, July 21.
