During its C2E2 panel, among the manga-related news Viz Media announced that it has licensed the Splatoon manga with the first volume expected to release later this year.
The manga based on the popular Nintendo game, Splatoon was initially published as a one-shot manga in Shogakukan's CoroCoro Comics in May 2015, and then began as a series in Bessatsu CoroCoro Comic Special in February 2016. Shogakukan compiled volumes in July 2016 and January 2017.
The announcement of the Splatoon manga coming to North America lines up with the upcoming release of Splatoon 2 for the Nintendo Switch in July.
Splatoon 2 is the sequel to the highly successful 2015 Wii U title that has turned into one of Nintendo’s best new IPs. It brings all of the ink-shooting action of the original but with new stages, weapons and a brand new Horde mode that gives players more ways to play.
