A Steam Greenlight-style early access program is coming to GOG.com. GOG.com, run by The Witcher developers at CD Projekt RED, is including five games for the launch and offering discounts up to 40 percent.
Because game development is a fickle beast, GOG is also sure to include a 14-day refund policy on all games bought through the program. That way, if you find out a game you just bought isn’t fun, doesn’t run on your computer, or some other reason, you can easily return it for a full refund.
"Our goal has always been to offer a selection of titles that are both excellent and worth your time. Nowadays, we're seeing more games that are already great experiences while still in development," says Piotr Karwowski, GOG.com Managing Director, in a press statement. "We want all gamers on GOG.com to have access to what these titles have to offer, but we want to get it right, carefully evaluating each and every game, offering a 14-day refund policy, and providing GOG Galaxy support with update rollback and more."
The first five games in in the program launch today, fully DRM-free. They are:
– Starbound
– Ashes of the Singularity
– Project Zomboid
– TerraTech
– Curious Expeditions
If interested in getting in on the early access action, the launch discounts are only offered until Feb. 2. More games are will be added to the program in the future, and gamers can make requests on the GOG.com Community Wishlist .
