The gaming industry is not a stranger to delays. S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl is now the latest title to be delayed, and for a long while. Fans will have to wait a little more than seven months, with the new release date on December 8, 2022. Fans of the franchise have already waited ten years for a sequel, so seven more months are nothing compared to it.
The Announcement
“S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 is the biggest project in the history of GSC, and it requires thorough testing and polishing. We are convinced that development should take as long as necessary, especially in the case of such a project,” said in the official tweet.
The delay might seem unfortunate, but it's better than an unfinished game. No one wants to buy and play a game filled with bugs and other issues.
Previous S.T.A.L.K.E.R games aren’t exactly known for being polished. Maybe this one will be the first.
About the Game
S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 was revived back from the dead in 2018. The game is being developed and self-published by GSC Game World, and it will be one of the first games to utilize Unreal Engine 5. The game will also be exclusive to Xbox Series X|S and PC. However, a leaked document has revealed that the exclusivity period is only three months. So, there is a chance that PlayStation players could get their hands on the title. S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 will also be available on Xbox Game Pass, letting you play the entire game without spending extra.
Another S.T.A.L.K.E.R-like game
Fans of the eastern-based post-apocalyptic games have one more game to look forward to. The next mainline Metro game is in development, along with a multiplayer Metro title. Just like S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2, Metro games are also developed by Ukrainian game developers. In fact, several developers of Metro games had previously worked on older S.T.A.L.K.E.R games.
