Remember the S.T.A.L.K.E.R franchise? That’s the same cult-classic series that later inspired Metro games. If there were no S.T.A.L.K.E.R games, then you can say goodbye to Metro 2033, Last Light, and Exodus. Fans of the beloved series have been waiting for a new entry for more than a decade. And now, we finally have some information.
Just a few days ago, GSC Game World released the Official In-Engine Gameplay Tease for S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2. Keep in mind that this is not actual gameplay footage but a showcase of visuals.
The trailer revealed the protagonist of the game. Our character is named Skif, and he also has access to a PDA, which I assume will help in the gameplay. We saw the weather changing quickly and heard spooky music, and I love all of these. It’s giving me Metro-vibes, one of my favorite franchises.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 is developed using Unreal Engine 4 and is planned for a 2021 release. However, I doubt that developers will be able to make that date. It’s probably going to get delayed. The game will release on PC and Xbox Series X|S. A PlayStation 5 version has not been announced. Yet an earlier report suggests that the title is a timed-console exclusive.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 will be the fourth game in the franchise. Previous titles were known for tons of bugs and other technical issues. We hope that the new game will have none of that and is more polished.
If you haven’t played any S.T.A.L.K.E.R title, then we recommend that you do so. You can purchase all three games from Steam at a very low price. But do keep in mind that they didn't age well. If you are looking for a more refined game, then try the Metro franchise. Metro 2033 Redux was recently given away for free via Epic Games Store.
So, what do you think? Are you excited about S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2? Have you played one of its previous titles in the franchise? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
