The first DLC character for Street Fighter V has been confirmed and is going to be available sooner than you may think.
According to IGN, Alex will be the first DLC character to be released for Street Fighter V in March. The release date for the other DLC characters were not revealed.
Street Fighter V’s DLC characters were leaked right before Paris Game Week and included Urien, Alex, Guile, Dhalsim, who was announced shortly after the leak, and another character that was designated as “FAN,” which we now know to be Fang.
Five additional characters were also announced to be released post-launch in 2016. All post-launch gameplay related content will be earnable with Fight Money, and the first details on how players will be able to earn Fight Money when the game comes out was announced at Paris Games Week.
Street Fighter V producer, Yoshinori Ono and brand director Matt Dahlgren even went ahead and confirmed a second wave of DLC that will be available. In an interview with Gamespot, Ono revealed that Capcom and the Street Fighter V team have a “long-term” strategy for the game.
“I think we’re just going to watch how things progress,” said Dahlgren. “We don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves. We do have very ambitious plans for Street Fighter 5 and a very long term strategy. We’d like to continue as long as we can, but we’ll have to see how the product does.”
The story mode of Street Fighter V was also announced to come with free DLC that will be made available in June.
But moving away from the Street Fighter V DLC news, Capcom also confirmed to IGN that the PlayStation 3 controller will be compatible with Street Fighter V for the PS4. So if you prefer the last-gen controller, you have your wish.
