March is going to be a huge month for Street Fighter V. Capcom is expected to roll out not only its first DLC character, Alex ,but some much-needed game modes and bug fixes.
The Capcom Unity blog detailed the Street Fighter V March update, including Challenge Mode, which gives players Tutorials on how to master certain characters and the online rematch option for the competitive players. These updates will show up in-game on March 28.
The blog also released the video below, showing off what players can expect in Street Fighter V for the month of March.
Challenge Mode in Street Fighter V will have three levels of Tutorials, each with a certain number of lessons to master. Here’s a rundown of what Challenge Mode will consist of according to the Capcom Unity blog:
Challenge Mode
Demonstrations: Learn the ins and outs of Street Fighter V through helpful demonstration and tutorial content. Contains content for each of the 16 characters, as well as advice geared towards players of all skill levels:
Beginner Tutorials: 12 lessons covering, movement, normal attacks, special attacks, V-System, throws, counter hits, chip/recoverable damage, etc.
Intermediate Tutorials: 11 lessons covering projectiles, invincibility frames, armor and armor break, recovery, cross-up attacks, anti-air options, etc.
Advanced Tutorials: 4 lessons covering back dashing, frame advantage/disadvantage, combo potential, button priority, etc.
Character Tutorials: 16 lessons covering each individual character.
Trials: Put your skills to the ultimate test with combo trials for all 16 characters, ranging from basic to pro combos. Completing Trials will also earn you some extra Fight Money.
A second March update will drop on March 30, marking the arrival of Alex to the game. Alex will be accompanied by his specific pre-story missions and the in-game shop will become available. The Zenny shop is where players can use real currency to purchase items or use the in-game zenny system to purchase Alex and plenty of other goodies.
However, the real-money portion of the in-game store will not be ready for the March update so that feature will not be available. But as we said above, the in-game currency you earn in-game will be available for you to spend on costumes and the like.
Capcom realizes this could be an inconvenience to those who want to purchase the DLC. To address this, there will be a trial period where Alex will be free to all players until the Zenny shop launches.
This will also include future DLC characters that are released before the Zenny Shop problems are fixed.
Once the Zenny shop launches, the free trial for any DLC characters released prior to the shop opening will end, and players will need to either use Fight Money, Zenny, or the Season Pass to access those characters. Any DLC character-related content (such as costumes) purchased with Fight Money during the trial period will remain in your account once the trial period ends, but you’ll need to purchase Alex to use that content. Everything will be saved, you’ll just need to purchase the character to resume your progress once the trial period ends.
Season Pass users will have exclusive access to the premium costumes of the DLC characters until the Zenny shop launches, and also get to keep character access once the free trial period ends. Additionally, all Season Pass users will receive a free, brand new stage in the near future.
