The highly anticipated Xiaomi Mi5 may be announced Feb. 20, according to Android Headlines. This date notably coincides with other launches taking place around Mobile World Congress. The Samsung Galaxy S7 an LG G5 are both expected to launch Feb. 21. However, there is no indication that the Xiaomi Mi5 will be announced in Barcelona.
Xiaomi has reportedly ramped up its production and has Foxconn employees working extra time to prepare Mi5 handsets for launch, according to G for Games. There are murmurs that the Mi5 may launch the day after being announced.
The Xiaomi Mi5 is expected to feature 5.3-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440) display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip, 4GB of RAM and 16GB and/or 64GB internal storage options, a 16-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera and a 3,000mAh battery. These specs match those listed by Chinese retailer GearBest, which recently posted a listing for the Xiaomi Mi5 prior to launch. The listing includes images of the device, indicating black, white and gold color options.
GearBest is one of the top vendors in the China so its listing gives credence to rumors and leaks for the Xiaomi Mi5 that have circulated for some time.
