It’s official: Coachella has released the 2016 lineup with Guns N’ Roses, Calvin Harris and LCD Soundsystem all confirmed as headliners for this year’s festival in Indio, Calif.
LCD Soundsystem will be headlining on the first day of Coachella, and will perform alongside M83, Ellie Goulding, The Kills, Foals, Of Monsters and Men, Joey Bada$$, Purity Ring, Jack Ü, Rae Sremmurd, Underworld, G-Eazy and Sufjan Stevens.
Guns N’ Roses will be headlining on the second day of Coachella, and will perform alongside just-out-of-the-freezer Ice Cube, A$AP Rocky, CHVRCHES, Grimes, Courtney Barnett, Silversun Pickups, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, BADBADNOTGOOD, Run The Jewels, Disclosure, Zedd, James Bay and Halsey.
Calvin Harris will wrap everything up and act as Coachella’s final headliner on the festival’s third day, performing alongside Major Lazer, Beach House, Sia, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Matt and Kim, Chainsmokers, Death Grips, Nosaj Thing, Flume, The 1975, Cold War Kids, Baauer and Girlpool.
It seems AEG Live, the worldwide sporting and music entertainment presenter behind Coachella, has netted themselves a swish this year by being able to book two major bands whose fans have been begging to reunite.
Guns N’ Roses featuring both Axl Rose and Slash will be performing on the same stage together for the first time since July 1993 at Coachella 2016. Both Slash and Duff McKagan have confirmed their participation in Coachella on social media, on Instagram and Facebook respectively. Rose was rumored to be waiting until Jan. 5, during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, to officially announce his involvement in Coachella but Rose canceled his Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance this week at the last moment.
LCD Soundsystem released a new song called "Christmas Will Break Your Heart," on Christmas Eve completely out of the blue before news broke of LCD Soundsystem’s possible reunification for Coachella 2016. According to Consequence Of Sound, LCD Soundsystem is slated to perform at FYF Fest and headline its own concert in New York City as well.
