At the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio, Arnold Schwarzenegger told The Arnold Fans that he may appear in the upcoming Predator sequel, The Predator.
“I haven’t talked with him yet, but I’m going to meet with him for lunch sometime soon,” Schwarzenegger said, referring to The Predator director and co-writer, Shane Black. “If there is any news, we’ll of course let you know right away.”
While it’s far from definitive that Arnold will be cast in the upcoming Predator 4, his Predator character, Major “Dutch” Schaefer, would be a natural add. He could serve as a high-level military advisor with knowledge of the Predator threat. Team him up with Danny Glover and Gary Busey (Retcon! Retcon! Retcon!) and you’ve got the ultimate Predator sequel.
The Predator is shaping up to be something quite special. Unlike Alien, which cemented itself as a worthwhile series with Aliens , Predator never really got a worthy follow-up. Now, with Shane Black (Iron Man 3, The Long Kiss Goodnight) directing and co-writing with genre mastermind Fred Dekker (House! The Monster Squad! Night of the Creeps!), the Predator series has its best chance for a mindblowing sci-fi, action sequel.
Unfortunately, quality takes time. The release date for The Predator will be March 2, 2018, nearly two years away.
