When Better Call Saul Season 2 Episode 2 aired Monday night all of us were expecting to see Jimmy struggle in his new position at Davis and Main, but who amongst us could have guessed that the episode would feature an extended riff on the viral pornographic shock video, Cake Farts?
Late in the most recent episode of Better Call Saul, Jimmy McGill (who will one day become Saul Goodman) helps out a naive, drug-dealing doctor who can’t see just how close the cops are to catching him. Jimmy steps in and spins a shaggy dog story about embarrassing fetish videos, giving the cops a plausible alternative to a drug cover-up.
“Hoboken Squat Cobbler, Full Moon Moon Pie, Boston Cream Splat, seriously?” Jimmy says, pretending to be aghast that the cops haven’t heard of this delightful culinary fetish. “Simple Simon the Ass Man, Dutch Apple Ass, guys am I not speaking English here?”
“It’s when a man sits in pie!” Jimmy says. “And he… he wiggles around.”
Depending on your experience with online shock videos, this pie fetish scenario may sound familiar. Existing somewhere on the milder side of the “2 Girls 1 Cup” and “Lemonparty” spectrum, “Cake Farts” is a video of a half-naked woman farting on a cake. “You know what I like most? Cake farts,” she says. “I’m going to need to get real comfortable for this.”
According to repository of troll knowledge and least trustworthy possible source, Encyclopedia Dramatica, the original cake farter is a woman named Tanya Zanette, who would later take the cake farting act on the road, recreating cake farts for Opie and Anthony.
Though the scene in Better Call Saul is a lengthy and elaborate story about a man who cries while sitting in pies, the emotional and plot stakes are high. Even as he experiences his greatest career successes, Jimmy can’t resist lying to the police and falsifying pie fetish evidence for the lulz.
While no one saw the pie sitting scene coming, it’s not the first time strange sex acts have been featured on Better Call Saul. The very first episode of the series opened with Jimmy defending young boys on trial for humping a decapitated head.
We’ll have to wait for 2017 to learn what depraved, oddball sex act will pop up in Better Call Saul Season 3.
