Tonight is the last Supergirl episode before the four-night Invasion! crossover next week and there’s some big things happening in Season 2 episode 7, "The Darkest Place." Guardian, National City’s newest vigilante, has himself a copycat. Mon-El has been captured by Cadmus. And Cyborg Superman will make his first appearance in a battle against Supergirl.
To comic book fans, the following identity reveal comes as no surprise. The real Hank Henshaw is Cyborg Superman. Turns out, Jeremiah Danvers didn’t kill him when he pushed Hank off the cliff after saving Martian Manhunter's life back in the day. Cadmus got ahold of Hank’s body and made him into a cyborg -- half man, half metal.
This means we have two powered Hank Henshaw's in National City, and I personally, would love to see Martian Manhunter get a rematch with the real Hank Henshaw, who was once the alien-hating director of the DEO. If it weren’t for Jeremiah Danvers, the real Hank would have killed the last man from Mars. But it was Danvers’ good will that ultimately kept J’onzz alive and brought the real Hank Henshaw to his death. J’onzz took on Henshaw’s name as his Earth identity to become the head of the DEO himself. Who better to protect the world from aliens than an alien?
Cyborg Superman’s identity was confirmed during an episode of DC All Access at the 1:25 mark (below). Fans have speculated a Cyborg Superman twist since the beginning. Personally, I was hoping he’d end up being Jeremiah Danvers. Some fans speculated Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman was actually Cyborg Superman all along. Looks like DC stuck to the canon on this one -- well, minus the whole Hank Henshaw being Martian Manhunter’s alter-ego thing.
Whatever the case, it’ll be great to watch Cyborg Superman in live-action. Are you excited to see what Cadmus has done to the real Hank Henshaw? Let us know in the comments below.
