Supergirl isn’t just about Kara Danvers. Her sister, Alex, has played a critical role in Season 2. She’s fought aliens right by Supergirl’s side, but the focus of the last few episodes have been more on Alex’s personal life than crime fighting. After realizing she likes extraterrestrial detective Maggie Sawyer as wayy more than a friend, she worked up the courage to tell her family and friends that she’s gay. Though her coming out didn’t go as planned with Maggie, who basically told Alex she’s not in the business of getting into a relationship with a newbie.
Alex, devastated after being turned down, was surprised when Maggie stopped by her apartment unexpectedly to apologize and ask her out. Now that Alex and Maggie are official, the next question is how long their relationship will last. According to statements from executive producer Andrew Kreisberg (via EW ), it will be quite awhile.
“The important thing is that we’re committed to this relationship and we’re committed to seeing it grow, change, blossom, and struggle, but also get stronger, deeper and more loving as we go forward,” he said. “I don’t think people need to worry that suddenly this relationship is going to go by the wayside. It’s going to have it’s ups and downs, but we’re committed to Alex and Maggie — we’re as committed to Alex and Maggie as the audience is.”
There you have it. Looks like Maggie is more ready for a relationship that her sister Kara, who has Winn, James Olsen, and Mon-El all chasing after her. Are you excited to watch Maggie and Alex’s relationship play out? Let us know in the comments below!
