We’ve already seen a number of rumors for a Superman game being in development, and the latest is pointing to Batman: Arkham creator Rocksteady. These rumors come from reddit though, so they could very well be a total sack of lies.
As posted on the Batman: Arkham subreddit, user TheLeakguin mentioned he or she wanted to break NDA and talk about what is coming from Rocksteady and WB Games. Like we said, this could easily be made up, so don’t take this as fact.
In the biggest post on the thread, TheLeakguin said Superman has run into many development issues, causing Rocksteady multiple delays. The concept of the game features Superman, who has become underpowered for some reason, facing off against enemies like Lex Luthor and Mettalo. These enemies would also be using kryptonite to make it a fair fight (and a challenging video game).
There leak also claims there will be collectible skins in this Superman game that grant players different movesets and abilities. The skins include movie and comic styles, as well as rare skins and skins of other characters such as Zod and Nuclear Man from Superman IV. This leak could be related to the leak we found well over a year ago, with an image of Superman surrounded by text about a “New 52 Skin.”
The plan was to allegedly announce Superman at this year’s Game Awards, but things fell through. Maybe we’ll see an announcement at E3 or something instead.
TheLeakguin also confirms another rumor we’ve heard recently about WB Montreal working on a new Batman game starring Damian Wayne. He or she expands on what was previously leaked, and mentions it will feel very much like the Batman Beyond TV series, and will feature appearances by Dick Grayson as Nightwing and Black Mask (being portrayed as a woman). The good news is TheLeakguin said fans will really enjoy the Batman game, and would have hated the cancelled Suicide Squad game. Looks like we may have dodged a bullet with that one.
There are a few other interesting tidbits in the thread, as well as a promise from TheLeakguin for proof, but we’ll see. Again, don’t take anything as fact unless we hear it from the mouths of WB Montreal or Rocksteady.
What’s interesting is also on reddit, the creative director at Rocksteady, Sefton Hall, recently held an AMA about what was going on at the studio. When asked what was next for Rocksteady, Hall said he couldn’t talk about it yet, but wants the community “involved heavily” in what’s coming next. This talk of heavy community involvement sounds to me more like an online multiplayer project, but we’ll see when Rockstar announces what they are doing.
So what do you think? Are you interested in a Superman game from Rocksteady? Do you believe these Damian Wayne Batman rumors? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
