Team Falcons, Five Other Dota 2 Teams Get Direct Invites to The International 2024

A direct line to TI. Valve

Last week Valve dropped a huge announcement with the release of update 7.36 which changed how Dota 2 was played. The studio once again revealed big news and this time it was all about The International 2024. In particular, six teams have received direct invites to the biggest event in the game.

The teams are:

  • Team Spirit
    • Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk
    • Denis "Larl" Sigitov
    • Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov
    • Myroslav "Mira" Kolpakov
    • Yaroslav "Miposhka" Naidenov
  • Xtreme Gaming
    • Wang "Ame" Chunyu
    • Guo "Xm" Hongcheng
    • Lin "Xxs" Jing
    • Zhao "XinQ" Zixing
    • Ding "Dy" Cong
  • Team Falcons
    • Oliver "skiter" Lepko
    • Stanislav "Malr1ne" Potorak
    • Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf
    • Andreas "Cr1t-" Nielsen
    • Wu "Sneyking" Jingjun
  • Team Liquid
    • Michael "miCKe" Vu
    • Michał "Nisha" Jankowski
    • Neta "33" Shapira
    • Samuel "Boxi" Svahn
    • Aydin "Insania" Sarkohi

    • Danil "gpk" Skutin
    • Matvey "MieRo'" Vasyunin
    • Vitalie "Save-" Melnic
    • Alexander "TORONTOTOKYO" Khertek

For most of the teams chosen, they aren't actually a surprise. There's been five Tier 1 tournaments and these ones are those that usually end up on top. Team Falcons for example grabbed first place in three of those tournaments while getting a second place finish in one and a third place finish in another.

If anything, the surprise pick would have to be Team Liquid. There's no question that they're a strong team. However, their performance so far hasn't been that consistent. Still, it is exciting to know that they're headed to TI.
