A second batch of NJPW DLC will hit Tekken 7 in the coming weeks, Bandai Namco announced over the weekend, including a smattering of content honoring the organization’s Intercontinental Champion, Hiroshi Tanahashi. Bullet Club fans can also look forward to a new batch of ring gear inspired by the stable. One even features perennial Tekken combatant Heihachi Mishima.
The new Tekken 7 DLC will focus primarily on Tanahashi, even if he isn’t the only NJPW talent featured in the add-on, and includes his new theme song, “Love & Energy.” There’s also a full costume for Lars Alexandersson, featuring the overcoat Tanahashi frequently wears to the ring before his matches. A handful of other items show the rest of the Tekken 7 roster some love, including the aforementioned Bullet Club t-shirts. Heihachi isn’t the only fighter to get a unique BC tee though. Bryan also has his own shirt now, featuring Kenny Omega’s “Goodbye and good night” promo sign-off.
King also gets some new ring gear in the next Tekken 7 DLC; however, it’s hard to tell (from the trailer) where it draws inspiration from. The only professional wrestler on the Tekken 7 roster was also a major beneficiary of the first NJPW DLC, spotlighting current champion Kazuchika Okada, which included a full Rainmaker getup for the masked grappler. Katarina also gets some new costume pieces this time around, but we’re similarly confused about their inspirations.
There’s no timeline for a Western release; however, the first round of NJPW DLC was included with Tekken 7 when it jumped to Europe and North America. NJPW may not be a household name here like it is Japan, but it’s not unreasonable to think we’ll see the next wave of NJPW-themed Tekken 7 content hit the U.S. branches of PSN, Steam and Xbox Live at some point.
