Good news for fans of fighting video games! The Tekken World Tour 2022 is bringing back in-person competitive events. That’s not all since the tour has been expanded and now has 16 global regions.
Like the past tournaments, the Tekken World Tour 2022 has participants fight their way through regional leaderboards in both Master and Dojo events from June to October. After that, the top players of each region move to the Regional Final from October to December. The entire tour then culminates in the Grand Final in early 2023, where players fight for the title of World Champion.
These were revealed by Bandai Namco Entertainment America during Combo Breaker 2022. The announcement also comes when Tekken 7 is about to celebrate its fifth anniversary. It was on June 2, 2017 when the game was released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Dojo and Master Events
The first Masters event is going to be at Community Effort Orlando in Florida from June 24 to June 26. Meanwhile, the community-run Dojo competitions start June 24.
Over the course of the Tekken World Tour 2022, players have several chances to get the needed points to climb through the leaderboards. These are:
- Dojo Events
- These are played offline or online and open to all players worldwide.
- These are region-locked, which means only players from the same region can earn points for their regional leaderboard.
- The number of points will vary depending on the size of the tournament.
- Dojo Prime Events
- These are a step up from the Dojo events.
- They are similar to Dojo events but are officially supported by Tekken World Tour.
- That means the number of points awarded won’t be based on the number of participants.
- Master and Master Prime Events
- Players can freely participate and earn points in any Master event across the world.
- These events are officially supported and will give more points for the regional leaderboard.
- This year, one Master Prime event is scheduled at EVO in Las Vegas.
- Tekken 7 has been announced as an official part of the lineup.
- The schedule of the Master events are:
- CEO (Daytona Beach, FL): June 24 to June 26
- EVO (Las Vegas, NV): August 5 to August 7
- VSFighting (Birmingham, UK): August 19 to August 21
- RevMajor (Manila, Philippines): September 17 to September 18
- The Mix Up (Lyon, France) – October 1 and October 2
Regional Leaderboards
The Regional leaderboards will move depending on the various events taking place. Players are ranked based on their single best performance in an offline Masters and their best four performances from Dojo events.
Between four to 16 players per region advance to the Regional Finals held in thirteen regions. For the remaining three regions (Oceania, Middle East, Philippines, and East Asia), the top leaderboard player is directly qualified for the Tekken World Tour 2022 Finals.
