In an official announcement on the Total War Dev Blog, developers introduced a new and exciting concept to Total War: Warhammer 2. Exclusively for the Mortal Empires Campaign, players will now be able to come across and conquer a new unique settlement type: forts.
"Forts are a brand-new type of settlement for Total War: WARHAMMER II available exclusively in Mortal Empires that build upon the foundations laid down by our current sieges. They serve as the front line of defence for the mighty and noble Empire, and can be found in several key locations around their borders.
Forts are hyper defensible positions usually found in mountain passes or other key locations, and comprise a strong garrison and a battle map with plenty of defensive advantages to make sure that whoever holds one has the upper hand."

With the addition of forts to the Mortal Empires campaign, the developers hope to add new layers of challenge and strategy to pulling off sieges. After all, conquering a fort is a daunting task. Forts are designed to withstand sieges, and therefore provide defenders with better odds and greater advantages. Forts will often be encountered in strategic locations on the world map, so holding and defending forts will most likely play a major role in determining the outcome of a campaign.
Best of all, forts, among many other content additions, will be available in a free update that will launch sometime this September, even if you don't buy any of the paid DLC.
However, this free update is just a prelude to an upcoming release scheduled for later this month. Total War: Warhammer 2 is getting ready to launch its latest upcoming DLC titled The Hunter & The Beast. So far, what we know about The Hunter & The Beast DLC is that it’ll be introducing a couple of new Legendary Lords, as well as the highly-anticipated and overly-monstrous Dread Saurius unit. There are a bunch of other new units, too, such as Razordon Hunting Packs, Huntsmen, War Wagons, and more. The Hunter & The Beast DLC is expected to come out on September 11.
