For those looking to complete Frozenbyte’s trilogy of action, platforming, and puzzle-solving games on the Switch, then this news should excite you. Next week, the official release of Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power is coming to the Nintendo Switch, which will launch digitally on the Nintendo eShop for $19.99.
The two previous games are already available on the digital storefront, meaning that the trilogy is finally complete. The first game in the series, Trine, launched for the Switch back in November 9, 2018. The second one, Trine 2, released earlier this year, on February 18. As for future releases, a fourth iteration called Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince will be making its way to all platforms, including the Switch, sometime this fall.

Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power is the third iteration in the Trine series, whose cast of characters has largely remained unchanged. You still play as three heroes – a wizard, a knight and a thief – who band together under the power of an Artifact called Trine, allowing them to swap to each other in order to face certain challenges and puzzles along the way.
Story-wise, the game picks up after the events of Trine 2, which sees Pontius the Knight, Zoya the Thief and Amadeus the Wizard trying to return their extraordinary gifts to the Trine itself. In doing so, and out of desperation, they meddle with powers beyond their understanding, which leads to the Trine shattering and a powerful and heartless ancient sorcerer escaping. Once again, the trio must join forces with a broken artifact to guide them in order to try and repair the damage they’ve caused and save the day.
If you’re looking to play the Trine trilogy on Switch, but still haven’t bought any of them yet, then you’re in luck. There are two very special editions coming to the Switch and other platforms. The first is a retail collection of the first three Trine games, which will be available in GameStop stores in North America starting on September 20. The second is a collection of all four games in the Trine series, called Trine: Ultimate Collection. This one will include the yet-to-be released Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince. Both Trine collections will release sometime this fall.
Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power will launch digitally on the Nintendo Switch this July 29.
