Nvidia will launch its GTX 1660 Super, a graphics card that will perform better than its rival AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT, by the end of October

The Nvidia GTX 1660 Super will feature GDDR6 and will work at 1785 MHz. This upcoming graphics card from Nvidia is designed to directly compete with AMD’s Radeon RX 5500, which will be clocked at around 1.7 GHz and will also come with GDDR6.

With a memory clock at 14 Gbps, the GTX 1660 Super will offer good performance for budget gamers. Same as the current Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660, the upcoming Super variant will utilize the TU116-300. It will come with the same core configuration of 48 ROPs, 80 TMUs, and 1408 CUDA cores.

The higher-end GeForce GTX 1660 Ti features 6 GB of GDDR6 memory that works at 12 Gbps, while the GeForce GTX 1660 features 8 GB of GDDR5 memory that works at 8 Gbps. The upcoming Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super will come with 6 GB of GDDR6 memory. GTX 1660 Super’s GDDR6 memory will have a total bandwidth of 336 GB/s and it will work on a 192-bit bus interface.

Using the memory, clock rate, and core count, Igor’s Lab has calculated the expected performance the upcoming GTX 1660 Super will have as well as the RX 5500 XT. The GeForce GTX 1660 Super will be 4.3% slower than the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and 2.8% faster than the RX 500 XT competitor from AMD. At the moment, the price tag of the GTX 1660 Super is still unknown, but it is expected to be somewhere between $200 and $279.

After the release of the GeForce GTX 1660 Super, it is expected that Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1660 Ti will be almost pushed out of the market. However, Nvidia has no alternative other than to rush the launch the GTX 1660 Super graphics card in order to compete with its rival Nvidia’s new mid-range Navi-based GPUs.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 and other upcoming mid-range graphics cards will be much appreciated by fans of esports-style games such as Rocket League, League of Legends, Apex Legends, Overwatch, CS:GO and more.
