A new update has been released for the free-to-play looter-shooter Vigor, which introduces players to a new story that they can listen to and follow. This same update also brings a new Elimination map along with changes to the game mode.
Before we take a closer look into those two new additions, players should be happy to know that there’s a new consumable item called Radiation Grenade. This grenade works by covering an area with a permanent radioactive cloud, after the explosion, which deals damage over time to players inside.
The Next Chapter
Chronicles: Absolution adds a new story to the game's lore. This time, players get to know more about Dr. Marie Dubois and Dr. Alexander Azimov. The two have been on a quest to find a way to reverse the effects of radiation and along the way, they stumble upon a dark secret.
Players learn more about this by finding the 11 cassettes in POIs in Encounter and bringing them back safely to the Shelter.
In a statement, Vigor Brand Manager Filip Stastny revealed that this new story will provide a lot of information that hasn’t been mentioned before. He added that players are sure to question the choices made by the characters and determine if they react in the same way.
New Map
The Elimination mode introduces Fiske Fabrikk, and three locations from the map are going to be available to play. To understand better how the rotation of the new map works, here are some of the details:
- From June 1 to June 5, the only map in Elimination is Fiske Fabrikk.
- From June 6 to June 10, Fiske Fabrikk is rotated with Anikken and Fiske.
- From June 11 to June 12, only Fiske is available.
- From June 13 onwards, Fiske Fabrikk is going to be in a permanent rotation between Anikken and Fiske.
As mentioned, changes have arrived in Elimination mode. The first is that in the pre-loadout screen, all players in the lobby can now buy score multiplier boosters which can be applied to everyone in the lobby. Each boost costs 10 crowns and players can buy up to eight boosters. Players can also purchase loadout tickets which cost 3 crowns, but they can only buy up to five tickets.
Here are the other details:
- Once the player enters the Encounter, there are going to be five pre-made loadouts with guns and consumables. These loadouts are permanent for the whole session.
- Each player picks one loadout after which, that loadout is grayed out and no other player can choose that loadout.
- If a player likes a loadout that is already closed, that player can use a loadout ticket to open the grayed-out slot and select it as the active loadout. This can occur once per round and a maximum of up to 5 times per whole match.
- If a player hasn't selected a loadout when the pre-round phase ends, a loadout is selected randomly.
