The latest trailer for The Walking Dead Season 7 revealed The Kingdom might play nice with Morgan and Carol, but that kindness won’t necessarily extend to their friends.
In the trailer, a Kingdom soldier tells Morgan no one needs to know about The Kingdom. This is a big red flag and could mean trouble for Alexandria . In the comics, Ezekiel doesn’t interact with Rick right away. Jesus acts like a representative for the Hilltop and its allied communities, which only includes Alexandria in the beginning. It’s not until several meetings with Jesus that Ezekiel decides it’s time to meet Rick.
However, it looks like the show might take a different approach with the introduction of The Kingdom. It appears Negan might not know about The Kingdom just yet, or it’s possible Ezekiel isn’t aware of other communities. This is odd, considering Ezekiel’s soldiers are pretty good about gathering intel for him.
In the comics, Negan doesn’t go after Ezekiel out of respect. Ezekiel negotiates a truce with Negan, something Morgan had tried to convince Rick was the right path for the Negan threat. Ezekiel doesn’t have any issues with Negan, though he secretly never liked him. So if The Kingdom is under Negan’s protection, why would a soldier tell Morgan to keep their existence a secret?
It seems like Morgan will take on Jesus’ role as the link between The Kingdom and Alexandria. Morgan might be the one who convinces Ezekiel to help out Alexandria once he learns about Negan killing two of his people. Of course Morgan’s first concern is making sure Carol is safe from others and herself, so it’ll be a while before we see Rick and Ezekiel meetup to discuss Negan.
