Carl and Jesus are both hiding in one of the Savior vehicles, but they are on two completely different missions.
The Walking Dead Season 7 episode 7 will feature Carl and Jesus trying to get into the Sanctuary. No one knows where Negan’s home base is and he likes to keep it that way. Negan is well aware he is disliked by the communities under his control. If any of them knew where he lived, there’s a possibility they’ll try to attack him.
Tom Payne, who plays Jesus on the show, recently teased during an interview with Entertainment Weekly what fans should expect from the series.
“There was a sneak preview on Talking Dead the other night where you see him jumping out of the back of the truck, so I guess you can figure out that him and Carl don't arrive at the same time at the Sanctuary,” Payne said. “So that will play out in the coming weeks, and the different ways that Jesus and Carl approach the Sanctuary is going to play out.”
Notice Payne said Carl and Jesus have different ways of approaching the Sanctuary. It’s possible Carl will go in guns blazing through the “front door” of the Sanctuary, which would by Jesus some time to sneak around. Jesus isn’t about to tell Carl what to do, but they’re both in deep shit if they get caught. Carl might have a better chance of survival because Negan knows he’s Rick’s achilles heel.
However, if Jesus gets caught then Hilltop is screwed. There’s already friction between Gregory and Negan. Gregory is lucky Negan didn’t kill him for sending Rick’s crew to take him out. Hell, Gregory should be thankful Maggie didn’t shank him when she got the chance. It was low blow to steal a dead man’s watch, Gregory. We all know that. R.I.P. Glenn.
