Some of us (okay, just me) harbored concern when the Nintendo Switch revealed its specs only promised a fraction of the Xbox One and PS4's computing power. However, it looks like the bantamweight hardware didn't hurt Nintendo's portable hybrid gaming console at all, thanks to its incredibly acclaimed launch title, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The latest title in the Zelda franchise proved once again that polished gameplay will always prevail over graphics.

But what if we got to enjoy both? Enter Cemu, a Wii U emulator for the PC that successfully managed to play Breath of the Wild in stunning 4K. Breath of the Wild's colorful style and its landscape with vast viewing distances make the Kingdom of Hyrule a beautiful place to explore. But in 4K, the improvements are remarkable and it makes makes Breath of the Wild really unbelievable. According to YamGaming, the PC rig used to play Breath of the Wild in 4K boasts an i7 6700k processor overclocked to at 4.3ghz, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card, Corsair h110i AIO, 16GB Ripjaw RAM at 2400mhz and more.
Not only does the 4K rendering offer major improvements to the sharpness of the graphics, but the Cemu emulator is a work in progress that'll take trial and error, so a Cemu subreddit offers a guide regarding how best to optimize Breath of the Wild's framerate on PC as well.
