It’s been an eventful day for Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs 2 between the presumably unintentional full-frontal nudity and horribly broken multiplayer.
We wish were joking, but things are that bad, guys. iDigitalTimes’ own Bob Fekete, senior games reporter, is trying to give it a fair chance, but the early gameplay has him painfully cringing over the lack of effort Ubisoft put into the writing.
Fekete’s first impression of Watch Dogs 2 is, “The game early on featured the main characters mocking a Hollywood blockbuster trailer about a hacker for its inaccurate portrayal of the culture, then immediately does the exact same portrayal, but without any irony whatsoever.”
Oh, it gets worse.
You might’ve woken up today to news of a Watch Dogs 2 gamer getting banned by Sony for sharing images featuring “full-frontal nudity” on its network. Well, this would be fine had it not actually been deliberately included in Watch Dogs 2 . This player found a female NPC with a fully-rendered vagina in the game. No, we’re not joking. It’s real. Look it up on Twitter. This is not ok.
Just when we were thinking Ubisoft couldn’t possibly make things worse, another Watch Dogs 2 player uploads a video featuring a naked man peeing on the streets of San Francisco with his penis and man bush out in the open. That video is on YouTube. We’re not linking to it, you can find that mess yourself if you’re that curious. We’re not trying to get all NSFW here.
Don’t get us wrong, we at iDigitalTimes appreciate the human body in all its natural glory, but when your game is just so disappointingly bad and broken, we’re not here for that. This isn’t an open-world RPG where nude mods are acceptably weird. We don’t want to see a dead female NPC’s lady parts exposed. That’s too much.
It doesn’t help that Ubisoft has only addressed the issues with the game’smultiplayer. The company released the following statement regarding the broken “seamless multiplayer feature” they boasted about non-stop before the release:
During the pre-launch phase of Watch Dogs 2, we discovered an issue tied to the seamless multiplayer feature that caused the game to lag and crash periodically. In order to eliminate that issue at launch and for players to enjoy a smooth game play experience, we have decided to wait to launch the seamless multiplayer feature until the patch that fixes this issue is deployed. The patch is currently in certification by Sony and Xbox.
In the meantime, players can still play the full single-player experience without any concerns and play co-op by inviting friends through the game menu. But that does mean that the Bounty-Hunter mode and other activities that would occur with other outside players who enter your game will be unavailable until the patch is deployed on each platform.
So, you guys are going to ignore the other issues with the game? It’s not like Watch Dogs was a yearly title like Assassin’s Creed , which has been consistently disappointing fans with shitty modern-day storyline and the unnecessary death of Desmond Miles. There’s no reason for Ubisoft to rush through the development of Watch Dogs 2 , especially considering how much hate the original game received.
We’ll just let DJ Khaled take it from here, Ubisoft.
