Among the many games that are releasing next month for the PlayStation 5, Demon's Souls remake is a title that has caught a lot of attention among fans. Developed by SIE Japan Studios and Bluepoint Games, Demon's Souls remake has been completely rebuilt from scratch while remaining true to the original game. However, the remake isn't exactly a copy-paste of the original game, and players can expect several new things when jumping into Demon's Souls remake for the first time.
Along with the entire visual overhaul of Demon's Souls, the developers have also tweaked certain core gameplay mechanics, including the following:
- Camera: Demon's Souls remake features an immersive camera that is placed closer to the character. However, several players started to complain about the camera positioning, claiming that it would make fights cumbersome in narrow locations. Bluepoint Games has confirmed that the game will feature both the new camera and the old one. Players will be free to toggle between them at any time.
- Animations: The original version of Demon's Souls featured tight animations, especially when rolling to dodge. Rolling in the original game was locked to just four directions, and with the remake, rolling is becoming omnidirectional. According to Bluepoint Games' Gavin Moore, Demon's Souls does feature updated animation, but combat hasn't been altered a lot and should feel similar to the original game.
- World System: World system is a system that builds a relationship between the player and the world. If a player is playing the game on easy difficulty, the loot drop will not be rare, and vice versa. Moreover, playing the game online changes how the world system responds.
- Healing: Healing has been reworked in the remake, and now players will be able to stock up on healing grass, but they can't carry an infinite number. The introduction of weight capacity limits how much weight a player can carry. This also applies to healing grass.
Demon's Souls Remake is releasing on November 12 for the PS5.
