The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a huge game. This attention to content has carried over to the DLC as well, and will be on full display in Blood and Wine. According to a recent interview with German outlet GameStar, The Witcher 3 ’s final DLC will be massive.
Even though the interview is in German, a helpful reddit user has translated the key points. Pawel95’s translated thread can be found here. While there are many questions about The Witcher 3 and other projects at CD Projekt RED, the focus was on Blood and Wine.
When asked how big the expansion will be, the developer said Blood and Wine will be about "as big as all islands of Skellige combined." That’s a massive area, especially for DLC. Heck, that’s still a large area even for a full game.
As for new additions, the only things the developers mentioned were the new Gwent deck, which was previously announced, and improved graphics. Some textures, like the grass, have been changed to look better, and CD Projekt RED was still debating if it wanted to replace ALL of the textures in the game, or simply keep the updated ones in the DLC.
Unfortunately, CD Projekt RED still hasn’t announced a release date. In the interview, the developers did mention they hope the expansion will release before E3, so expect to see this drop in early June.
So what do you think? Are you excited to see CD Projekt RED taking the time to develop great DLC? Have you even finished the main campaign of The Witcher 3 yet? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
