World of Warcraft is celebrating its 15th birthday and there's no better way to commemorate it than to offer new content. It was back in November 2004 when the game was first launched. A lot of people had been highly anticipating the release of WoW and when it was released, positive reviews flowed in. Since then, a total of seven expansions have been released.
In addition, Blizzard released World of Warcraft Classic just last month. This one offered players a recreated version of the game in the same state that it was before the first expansion was released.
So what is in store for this year's celebration? There are three new pieces of content being offered. These are:
- Anniversary Gift
- Players who manage to log in during the event period will receive the Anniversary Gift in their mail. The gift contains:
- Lil’ Nefarian battle pet
- Celebration Package which increases experience and reputation gains throughout the event.
- Reusable firework which can be used for the duration of the event.
- An item which teleports you to the Caverns of Time, though this is usable only during the event.
- Players who manage to log in during the event period will receive the Anniversary Gift in their mail. The gift contains:
- Return to Alterac Valley of Olde
- Players get the chance to try Korrak’s Revenge. This Battleground is a throwback and inspired by the earliest days of Alterac Valley. You not only get to beat your opponent and raze their fortifications, but also get to exchange tokens you loot from your fallen enemies.
- Those who manage to be part of Korrak’s Revenge and complete the Alterac Valley of Olde achievement gets two new mounts: the Stormpike Battle Ram (Alliance) and the Frostwolf Snarler (Horde).
- New Raids: Memories of Azeroth
- With Chromie being able to separate the strands of time, players have the chance to go back and relive epic raid encounters from the first three expansions: Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and Cataclysm. Each limited-time raid offers three iconic bosses which have their own wings through the Raid Finder.
- In order to join the raid, players need a minimum item level of 380.
- Those who complete all three wings get to receive the achievement Memories of Fel, Frost and Fire. This gives them the Obsidian Worldbreaker, a Black Dragonflight mount inspired by Deathwing.
So what about you? What are your plans in celebrating WoW’s upcoming birthday?
