World of Warships is receiving Part 2 of the Italian Battleships update this week. Update 0.10.2 is once again putting the spotlight on these battleships.
Through this upcoming update, players can enjoy these features of the Ship Branch:
- Semi-armor-piercing shells instead of HE shells.
- These shells can deal significant damage to weakly and moderately protected targets and vulnerable ship parts, but do not cause fires.
- A large number of guns with relatively short firing ranges and not the greatest accuracy.
- Decent maneuverability and armor protection.
- Tier VIII–X ships have access to the Exhaust Smoke Generator consumable, which allows them to sneak away from enemies without having to reduce speed.
- However, shooting from within a smokescreen while retreating isn't recommended since battleships have high detectability when firing their main battery guns from within the smoke.
Big Hunt
The new update is set to introduce a new temporary battle type known as Big Hunt. This is actually a revamped version of the Key Battle that was offered back in Update 0.9.10. In Big Hunt, 16 players need to show their skills as they face each other and AI-controlled monsters on a giant Polygon map. Here are the features of this new battle type:
- The main objective is to exit the Polygon via the Portal located at the center of the map.
- Be careful since the Portal opens up only sometime after the battle starts.
- Players start out alone but can gather a team directly in battle.
- It’s now possible to join the battle as part of a Division, but each player still starts the battle on their own.
- To coordinate the efforts, Division mates need to locate each other on the map and build up their team.
- The Big Hunt ends when all surviving players exit through the Portal, or when the battle time expires.
Battle Points
The Big Hunt comes with a temporary resource called Battle Points. These are issued to those who destroyed monsters and eliminated other players. For example, just for this new battle type, there’s a new boss ship that’s called the Aurora. It’s going to be a challenge but the team that can sink her gets a large number of Battle Points.
By getting enough Battle Points, players can reinforce their ship directly in battle. Battle Points that are earned and not spent or lost in battle can be exchanged for rewards at the Armory. Finally, being able to exit the Polygon gives double the amount of Battle Points.
