Amplitude Studios will launch Endless Space 2 on Steam Early Access beginning Thursday, Oct. 6.
Endless Space 2 promises “ a finely balanced mix of character-deep factions with their own stories, a senate for political intrigue, a new battle plan system for strategic confrontations, new streamlined interfaces with Amplified Reality, and much more in its richly evolved Early Access build.”
The Early Access version of Endless Space 2 features four of the game’s final eight factions and allows the player to discover each faction’s story, though there’s no word on pricing yet. Factions vary from AI gone berserk to a lethal Endless creation.
According to the developer’s blog, “ the game you will be able to play next week is the alpha version of Endless Space 2 : it will be missing some features which aren’t implemented yet, but will also include mechanics we want to improve with your help. Note that the core gameplay will be there, so you’ll get a good idea of what the game is about already.”
Minor factions, political ideologies and even elections will play a greater role in Endless Space 2. While space combat is getting an overhaul as well, it remains more cinematic than RTS, with the player choosing a plan and then watching as it’s executed.
Amplitude Studios crafts all their games alongside fans in Early Access as part of its “games2gether” philosophy, where gamers can provide feedback and help guide the final product’s ultimate direction.
