Agents of SHIELD Season 4 episode 15 ended the LMD portion of Season 4. Now, we're onto the last and final pod, dubbed “Agents of HYDRA.” While it’s hard to predict what’s going to go down in this alternate reality, the Agents of SHIELD Season 4 episode 16, “What If,” promo suggests Brett Dalton’s return may be just as disturbing as Hive was.
It looks like Daisy could be the focus of this alternate reality, because Jemma is nowhere to be seen in the footage. Her name is only shown on a gravestone, and Fitz appears to be dating someone else. Though, it’s hard to say for sure because we only see him reach for a slender hand. It’s unclear if he’s a HYDRA agent, or a billionaire in a different profession in this reality. I’m thinking it could be the latter… We’ve never seen Fitz’s character so fly.
“I don't want to spoil anything, but I will say that everybody is very different,” Jed Whedon told IGN after the episode. “That's all I'll say. You can see, I think, from the end that their task of going in there and just sort of snapping their fingers and going ‘hey guys!’ might be a little harder than they thought.”
May, seen in the glossy windows of the huge HYDRA building downtown, seems pretty happy in this new world. We have yet to see if she’s dating Coulson, who is an inhuman-fearing high school teacher in this world. It’s possible May is still married to Andrew Garner and they figured things out because her life hasn’t been so traumatic.
All of these changes beg the question, will Daisy even want to leave? She and Grant Ward became very close before he revealed himself as a traitor and complete asshole. He could be the happy, good character we met when the series first started -- the man Daisy fell for. As for Jemma, we have no idea what the framework has done with her. Daisy appeared in the body of her framework counterpart, and if Jemma does the same, it means she’ll appear 10 feet under. Will she end up being buried alive, or just dead?
The promo doesn’t show what’s happening with AIDA, and Anton, who has been reborn as an LMD. AIDA has given him a metal skeleton, and his brain is being controlled by his decapitated head that’s being stored in a jar.
