Updated Version
Akiba's Trip: Undead and Undressed Director's Cut is an updated version of the original game for the new generation. It puts players in the role of Nanashi. He is an otaku transformed mysteriously into a vampire and then thrust into a conspiracy of "Synthisters," which have been plaguing the electronics mecca. Nanashi must defend his fellow otaku from vampire predators and later discover that the best way to defeat them is to strip them of their bare essentials and expose them to the cleansing power of the sun. He fights alongside allies called the Akiba Freedom Fighters.
The game features a fully-voiced "true ending" route that stars the lovable maid, Kati. There are also original side quests which introduce more offbeat otaku denizens of Akihabara. Players can choose from an arsenal of new weapons and armor as well. There's no question that this version offers modern supernatural adventure for Japanophile having discerning tastes.
The story is played out like a visual novel where players can choose what to say from three different phrases to move it forward. Some choices increase the player's affection level with certain characters which will lead to different endings. For gameplay, the playable character is customizable using clothing and headgear; they can even have a walking style and stripping style. Other customization features are unlocked once they beat the game for the first time.
For combat, players can choose what weapon they want to use and they can attack the lower, middle, or upper part of the enemy's body with the goal of weakening their clothing.
AKIBA'S TRIP: Undead and Undressed Director's Cut is also coming to PC and PlayStation 4 as a DLC. The Kati's Route DLC is offered for PC and PlayStation 4 as well, priced at $7.99.
