ESPN just revealed the next Hearthstone card on its website, Mark of Y’Shaarj . It is a two mana druid spell that says: “give a minion +2/+2, if it’s a Beast draw a card.” It’s a corrupted version of Mark of the Wild, which gives a minion +2/+2 and taunt for two mana. This new version isn’t very good, unless you use it on a Beast. Druids don’t have many good Beast cards; Mounted Raptor might be the best and even then the mount isn’t played very much.
I don’t see Mark of Y’Shaarj getting much use, in either arena or constructed. If it was a neutral card it might have some uses; Hunter has plenty of Beasts to buff. Desert Camel has no uses right now, but with buffing it with this twisted mark might give it purpose. A 4/6 with an extra one mana minion and a card draw for six mana isn’t too shabby. Too bad that can never happen and Mark of Y’Shaarj is just going to have to stay out in the wild.
Tom60229 , a popular streamer, finally revealed his card after hours of anticipation. Shadow Word: Fear is a four mana Priest spell that when played destroys all two or lower Attack minions your opponent controls. This card makes zero sense to use right now, with the current cards we have in the game. Four mana is a crazy amount to spend to kill two attack minions that usually don’t cost very much. Even if your opponent has a full board of Implosion Imps, you are barely getting your value back while your opponent still killed a minion.
I think a card that spams low attack minions is still to come in this set. We’ve already seen some low attack minions, like Tentacle of N’zoth and Spawn of N’zoth . Shadow Word: Fear is a disgrace to all the other Shadow Words right now. It’s like Meekrob, which is a very old South Park reference I am proud to make. If you really hate Murlocs, use this card. If you don’t, find another card to replace Dark Cultist in your Priest decks.
Two days in a row, Blizzard has revealed pretty terrible cards. Hopefully that just means they are saving the best for last.
