UPDATE: The livesteam is available now, but there's nothing much to see. Every now and then a countdown timer pops up, seemingly counting down to 3 p.m. EST. If you don't want to wait with the stream up for the next few hours, check back in around then.
A new game from Titanfall 2 developer Respawn Entertainment is set to debut today, according to a tweet from noted video game personality Geoff Keighley. While there is no official word on what this new game will be like, we do have a few leaks that provide some clues.
We definitely know the new game is called Apex Legends and will be a battle royale game, as this is stated in Keighley's tweet above. We also know from Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella that Apex Legends will be revealed in full during a livestream today at 11 a.m. EST. That's all the concrete knowledge we have so far.
According to Kotaku's Jason Schreier, Apex Legends is a game set in the Titanfall universe, but don't expect to see the massive metal machines that are a trademark to the franchise. Schreier reports Apex Legends only features humans with "supernatural MOBA-like hero abilities." Players can compete in classic every-man-for-himself gameplay or compete in squads of three players each. A source told Kotaku that Apex Legends felt like a mix between Titanfall, Overwatch and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's battle royale mode Blackout.

What Does Apex Legends Mean For Titanfall 3?
We don't know for sure what the status is of Titanfall 3, but sources at Kotaku say the game was far along in development, and at one time was in discussions for a 2018 release. Seeing as how we don't have a new Titanfall game, that obviously didn't pan out. The sources say Titanfall 3 was looking a little dated, so it's possible Respawn Entertainment is taking the time to spruce up the next Titanfall game and releasing this battle royale game to hold fans over and keep interest in the franchise alive.
Does this mean Titanfall 3 is dead? That seems doubtful. Job postings on the Respawn Entertainment website two months ago directly referenced a new Titanfall game. The franchise will likely continue to live on, especially if this battle royale game is also set in the same universe.
So what do you think? Are you excited to see what Respawn Entertainment is releasing next? Does the idea of a Titanfall battle royale without Titans sound interesting? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
