The Apple TV may be getting a new app soon according to Apple Insider: AMC. The news comes courtesy of a tip sent to Apple Insider from a dedicated reader of the site who received a response to a message they sent to the general AMC info email.
The email states that AMC is reportedly planning to release an app for the Apple TV “shortly.” Currently, AMC has released an app for the iPhone and iPad as well for Android devices, and viewers can watch a selection of full episodes online.
There was another rumor floating around recently that stated that the Sling TV was coming to the Apple TV as well, courtesy of MacRumors. The rumor turned out to be a hoax, and the tipster who sent in the information turns out to have doctored the information.
While Sling TV has support for the Chromecast, the Sling TV FAQ states little else other than “our service is not currently available on Apple TV.” Sling TV recommends their customers use the WatchESPN app instead to “enjoy the ESPN networks they receive as part of their subscription.”
Sling TV is an alternative TV package aimed toward cordcutters. For $20 a month, Sling TV subscribers get access to a variety of channels, including AMC, ESPN and Cartoon Network.
