ARK: Survival Evolved PC Update v270 Released With New Tek Tier Items

ARK: Survival Evolved update v270 has finally landed on PC, and it adds some cool Tek goodies for high-level players. Read the full patch notes below courtesy of Studio Wildcard.

• New Weapon: Tek Sword (Charge-Attack and damages Metal & significantly pierces Armor when powered by Element)
• New Armor: Tek Shield (Reflects incoming projectiles/bullets when powered by Element)
• New Structure: Tek Light (Attaches to any surface and can be either independently powered by Element Shards in its Inventory, or traditionally powered via generators)
• TrueSky memory usage fix
• Fixed issue where clients would sometimes become disconnected after demolishing/destroying structures

The major thing to take home about this update is, of course, its new items. Here’s everything about them revealed in-game so far.

Tek Sword: Cuts through metal and armor when infused with Element and supports a Charge Attack. Equipping requires learning this Tekgram. It necessitates the Tekgram for the Tek Replicator and requires the following materials to craft:

• 180 Polymer
• 675 Metal Ingot
• 180 Crystal
• 40 Element
• 80 Black Pearl

Tek Shield: Absorbs damage from the front when activated. When infused with Element, it reflects any blocked projectiles or bullets back at the shooter at a cost of Element. It also mandates the Tek Replicator to craft, as well as the following supplies:

• 240 Polymer
• 900 Metal Ingot
• 240 Crystal
• 70 Element
• 100 Black Pearl

Tek Light: Useful for spelunking, they can be attached to any surface self powered by Element Shards or linked to generators and picked up after placement. It requires the Tek Replicator in addition to these resources:

• 2 Element
• 90 Metal Ingot
• 20 Crystal
• 1 Black Pearl
• 40 Polymer

This is one of ARK’s first major content updates since its official release late last month, and it precedes the much larger Aberration expansion due in October for season pass holders. It’s likely this content will eventually come to Xbox One and PS4 as well, but Wildcard seems to be having trouble managing its console release pipeline. The game’s next update for Xbox has already been delayed several days, with no end in sight.

ARK: Survival Evolved is available now on PC, Xbox One, PS4, OS X and Linux.
